Mindful Monday: Finding Stillness in a Busy Market

May 18, 2026

There is a particular kind of noise that real estate creates.

Numbers. Rates. Listings. Offers. Deadlines. Headlines telling you the market is up, down, shifting, uncertain. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone has a prediction. Everyone seems to know what you should do.

And underneath all of it — for most people — is a quiet anxiety that never quite goes away.

This is the first Meditation Monday post. And I want to start here: with that anxiety. Because pretending it doesn't exist doesn't make it go away. Acknowledging it — sitting with it for a moment — is the first step toward something better.

The Practice

For the past 27 years, I've maintained a practice of sitting quietly every morning. Not always long. Sometimes just ten minutes. But every day, without exception.

What I've learned — and what every teacher I've studied with has confirmed — is this: stillness is not the absence of noise. It's a different relationship with it.

The market doesn't stop being noisy because you meditate. Life doesn't become simpler. Decisions don't become easier in the sense that they require less thought.

But something shifts. The noise moves from the foreground to the background. You stop being inside the anxiety and start being aware of it. That's a completely different experience.

A Simple Practice for This Week

I'm not asking you to sit for an hour. I'm not asking you to empty your mind — that's not what meditation is anyway.

I'm asking you to try this:

Once this week, before you check your phone in the morning — sit quietly for five minutes.

Don't try to think about anything in particular. Don't try to stop thinking either. Just sit. Notice your breath. Notice the sounds around you. Notice what arises in your mind without following it anywhere.

That's it. Five minutes. Before the noise begins.

See what you notice.

Why I Do This Here

Some people wonder why a real estate agent writes about meditation.

The answer is simple: I don't separate the two. The same presence I bring to a 27-year contemplative practice is the same presence I bring to a $15M land acquisition. The same capacity to sit with uncertainty that meditation cultivates is what allows me to give clients honest counsel in a market that's constantly trying to create panic or euphoria.

Real estate is one of the biggest decisions of a person's life. It deserves more than urgency and hype. It deserves presence.

That's what I'm here to offer.

Every Monday, I'll share something from the practice — a reflection, a teaching, a question worth sitting with. No real estate. No sales pitch. Just presence.

Follow along on Instagram or YouTube.

Be good to yourselves — because at the end of the day, we're all just trying to find our way home. Much love.
